People living on Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast have another reason to smile with Smith & Sons now ready to renovate!
Neil and Jane Whittred and their two children, locals for nearly 10 years, have joined the Smith & Sons team as franchise owners on the Gold Coast.
"We just love living and working on the Gold Coast”, said Neil.
“The combination of the outdoor lifestyle, a great climate, friendly people and family close by are just sensational”.
Neil has been in the building industry for over 25 years. After a fully indentured apprenticeship he has a varied career including advanced carpentry and joinery, with experience in Residential, commercial, high rise & civil construction. He also completed diplomas in management & project management.
“What I enjoy about working in the building industry is the ever changing challenges, meeting new people, and having the opportunities to improve people lives and living experiences”, said Neil.
When its time for a break, Neil and the family enjoy triathlons, swimming, cycling, camping, movies, and trips to the snow.
And why Smith & Sons?
“Being my own boss has always been a plan, and all I have ever done is construction type work. The time to start and build a business from scratch is something I don’t have with a young family so this model gives me a huge head start with the network of help behind me. I can work close to home and be around to help out with my family and my wife’s small business”, said Neil.
QLD Master Franchisee Jeff Thompson is very happy with Neil and Jane and believes they are the perfect fit for the team.
“Neil and Jane are a perfect fit for our Smith & Sons QLD team as they have the same core values as us – integrity, honesty, family and vision. When meeting Neil you will instantly feel he is a man who has integrity and is honest and that he his highly motivated. However the main reason why he has decided to join our team is family. Neil has been away working on big construction sites five days of the week for many years now and feels he’s missing out on seeing his family grow up, so he made the decision to use his skill sets to build his own business with his family around him.”
