In this latest project, we turned this unit into a holiday villa, bursting with character and life! The unit felt tired and dated, with old, dark slate-look linoleum flooring and exposed block walls. Our out of town clients, in need of a relaxing retreat, trusted us with the task of bringing new life into their cozy space, and we were itching to begin!

We understand that renovating can be an intimidating experience for any homeowner, but potentially more so for an owner who isn’t even on the ground in Cairns. Open communication and frequent updates were our priority to help our clients feel secure and confident that the renovations were in capable hands.

This project was a full unit makeover, excluding the bathroom/laundry. The first stop was the kitchen! The existing kitchen was functional but severely lacked storage. We maintained service locations such as the sink, cooktop and oven to minimise costs but replaced the dividing wall with a new full height wall, complete with overhead cupboards.  This immediately tripled the kitchen storage space!  Our clients had an adventurous colour palette – it is a holiday home, after all, so why not create an exciting space to visit? The design incorporated new cabinetry, in the shade Olivine from the Laminex range, paired with matte black features. The black fixtures, fittings, and countertop merge in with the olive-green cabinetry perfectly.

The unsightly block walls were plasterboarded over and painted crisp white. We said “so long” to the incredibly outdated slate-look linoleum flooring, and “hello!” to the new Vinyl Venus Blackbutt timber plank flooring. Life was returning once again! The bold colour theme continued from the kitchen into the bedroom, transforming it into a space with a striking vibrant blue VJ plank feature wall. We were obsessed with the paint choice, and it turned out to be a standout for us and the clients.

It was a great feeling to see this holiday villa transformed into a revitalised space, and even better to be the team chosen to do it. After witnessing such a significant change, we were tempted to book a getaway for ourselves! But, onto our next makeover adventure!
