Having young kids and our youngest being diagnosed with Cystic fibrosis at 6 weeks old, we have always thought about having our outdoor area renovated.  We had thought long and hard about what we wanted and prioritised on how we would get the works carried out when the time would be right.  The main aim of this project was to create a safe and secure environment for the kids to play and an area pleasant enough for us to be able to relax outdoors within a private setting.  Our land isn’t massive, and we have a small backyard and an average front yard which like all typical builds is open to the street frontage with a few plants and lawn. We have always liked the idea of having a closed front yard similar to some GC suburbs such as Broadbeach or Hope Island, We had always hoped to be able to replicate something similar at ours - rendered wall, fences on both sides shared with the neighbours and an electric gate with a pedestrian gate to fully enclosed our front yard.

Once the finances became available, it was time to find a builder that could execute our vision.  I am a very avid fan of Instagram and a lot of my renovation ideas and recommendations have been through following renovators accounts (both business and personal accounts) and this is how I found Smith & Sons.  From the snapshots of the work completed by the company, I could see that they would be able to do our front yard transformation and that’s how I decided to contact Smith & sons for an enquiry and quote. 

We were referred to Smith & Sons Bowen Hills and we were contacted by the lovely Ruby who gave us an outline of the quote process, the site visit, and a general view of how the project would be managed should we decide to go ahead.

We met with Sedat and discussed our vision, and he took onboard our ideas and gave us his recommendations.  We were very satisfied with the professionalism and continuous communication shown by Ruby and Sedat.  They were always available to answer our queries and always ensured that we were happy with their recommendations before proceeding ahead.

The designing stage and pricing stage went smoothly, and all aspects of the contract were discussed at length.

In the last week since the works have been completed, our family has been able to enjoy the outdoors more than we ever had in the last 10 years.  We feel like we have created our own little oasis and the kids are enjoying their time outside and finally using their trampoline - especially for our daughter, which means extra physio sessions on a daily basis that can only be beneficial for her health. 

We are happy with the workmanship - throughout the renovation process, all staff members, or contractors that we dealt with have been very professional and respected our living space and ensured that works being completed were done within a timeframe that was convenient to us.
