A Timeless Kitchen Designed for Family Living

For this busy working family with school-aged children, the kitchen had become a space that no longer suited the way they lived. The original layout felt cramped and boxed in, with poor use of space, dated mustard-toned cabinetry and an unnecessary doorway that interrupted the flow of the home. Their vision was to create a light-filled kitchen that connected seamlessly with the living area, offered generous storage and delivered a timeless aesthetic that would stand the test of time. 

 

The renovation involved a complete strip out of the existing kitchen and a thoughtful reconfiguration of the space. A new VJ panelled feature wall allowed the layout to be redesigned, while the removal of an unused sliding glass door made way for a gas strut servery window, creating a practical connection to the outdoor entertaining area. New custom cabinetry, quality Bosch appliances, a Cemento Bianco benchtop, Laminex White Absolute Matt cabinetry paired with Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt finishes, and a Marlin Tiles Capri Beige Matt splashback combined to create a warm, natural palette. Existing flooring was retained, helping to maximise the renovation budget. 

 

Budget was an important consideration throughout the project. Working closely with the homeowners, we adjusted the scope to suit their priorities while remaining flexible as additional features were added during construction. By completion, the family recognised the long-term value of investing in a layout that would serve them well for years to come. The transformation from an outdated, enclosed kitchen into a bright, sophisticated and highly functional family hub is a reminder that thoughtful design and careful planning can completely change the way a home feels and functions.
