Smith and Sons Geelong (Mark Stewart) recently completed a renovation and total transformation of our coastal home. It was important to us that we use a local builder who used local tradesman, suppliers and services so as to support our local community. Mark had recently completed a renovation of our neighbours home and he came highly recommended. From vision to concept/design to build; the finished product is so amazing and the interaction and time spent from beginning to end has been such a pleasure, so professional and such a seamless process.
We wanted to achieve a fresh, modern look that was sympathetic to the coastal landscape. Our renovation needed to accomodate for more modern conveniences; total exterior transformation, windows, extra storage, WFH space, ensuite, master B/R, WIR, Kitchen and an outdoor living area that integrated our home to our backyard. We also have sentimental statement artwork, so how to configure the house and use lighting, colours and textures were important to us as part of the discussion during the design phase. We obviously had a huge wishlist and we met Mark many times to discuss what we could achieve given our budget. His professional advice and guidance was invaluable and he was so honest in what we could achieve in bringing the existing home and new together.
We lived in the house during the renovation, add COVID-19 and a renovation over winter; I honestly questioned how we were all going to get through it unscathed.
Mark’s builders, Jim and Tristan were absolutely exceptional as were all of the other trades onsite. The amount of care for our home, safety onsite, our lifestyle (while we worked from home), the professionalism, the pride in their work and their craftsmanship was evident from day 1.
The attention to detail and building exactly what we wanted was unmatched. The project ran so smoothly and the finished result has exceeded our expectations - it looks like a newly built home. Many of our neighbours who watched the build/transformation are so complimentary and love the new look. We love living in our new home.
There were lots of laughs on-site, such a great crew to have around and get to know. I hope that I don’t miss out on anyone but a huge shout out to Colin, Kylie, Zaz, Ant, Jim, Tristan, Dan and Chris (and their crews) who made the magic happen.
