Smith & Sons have designed a range of high quality, affordable granny flats that can be constructed in just six weeks. We have four different floor plans in a range of finishes which can function as a home office, guest-house, teenage retreat, studio, rental property, or, of course, a home for the grandparents.
Studio/Home Office
This layout, with it's own bathroom, provides the perfect space for a home office, guest-room or teenage retreat.
Lifestyle
The Lifestyle layout is completely self-contained, making it the ideal space for a teenager or to generate income as a rental property.
Entertainer
This floorplan offers an abundance of space, making it suitable for those who love to entertain. It is the perfect, self-contained space for a young couple to rent, or for ageing parents who have moved in.
Retreat
The largest of our available floorplans, the Retreat granny flat is a great alternative living solution or rental space for a small family.
Our ProcessDesign + Plan + Construct
At Smith & Sons, we take the stress out of renovating by managing projects from concept to completion. We map out a clear journey for our clients so that they know exactly what to expect. In this regard, building a granny flat is no different to a major renovation. We engage our unique Design-Plan-Construct process and guide our clients through every step.
DESIGN
The design phase is a creative process where we find out how you need your granny flat to function and how you’d like it to look.
Once you’ve selected a floorplan we focus on colours, fixtures, and finishes, and generate a detailed cost estimate.
PLAN
When planning, we get technical.
This step involves putting your ideas into precise drawings and ensuring that they comply with your local council regulations. We get the paperwork sorted so construction can begin.
CONSTRUCT
This is the most exciting part, watching your granny flat become a reality.
The construction process usually takes around 6 weeks.
