Firstly, may I say I am absolutely over the moon with my renovation. It is everything I hoped it would be. It has turned out a job really well done. Thankyou.
Sitting though the first lockdown I had a dream. I had purchased this house 12 months previously but I knew it needed some renovations. Lockdown gave me the opportunity to plan. Plan is not the right word – to dream. What did I need to do to make this a comfortable place for me to see out my retirement years? I needed someone to help with the planning and design and the works themselves. The main requirement was a new bathroom, but window and floor replacements and other bits and pieces were also needed to make this a home to be proud of.
I was able to meet initially with Karli due to the shop front in Fryers Street. If it wasn’t for this shop front, I am not sure we would have ever got together. The ability to meet at the shop in the initial stages and then through the planning phase is such a strength of your business. It certainly enhanced the two-way communication required in a renovation project. Communication in general is such a big aspect of what you deliver to a client, and it was very much appreciated. Especially helping a ‘bloke’ with colours and decisions on hardware and tiles etc. etc. etc.
Communication was not only the shop front, but once the project got going weekly update emails, phone calls, and onsite meetings were all part of the process. All of which was much appreciated. As part of the planning it become obvious that the house needed relevelling. Lancaster Restumping were engaged, and you worked with them to make sure this happened early in the construction window. The ability of your firm to work with Lancaster Restumping made the whole process seamless. You also knew early on that the levelling would cause damage to the plaster and other fixtures. I was forewarned about this, and you undertook to fix any of the issues that occurred as a variation to the overall contract, but once again, due to the excellent communication processes in place, nothing come as a surprise to me. I was always told up front what to expect.
I soon found out when working with Travis and his team that nothing was impossible or off limits. His team, specifically Brett and Reece, where great to work with and they too explained in layman’s terms, what was happening and why at all stages of the project. They never seemed to mine me calling in unexpectedly or asking those dumb questions.
Of course, Covid caused some delays but this was beyond anyone’s control. However, communication again was first class and very much appreciated as I always knew what was happening, how long any delay may be for, and what to expect next. I could not have wished for a more friendly and professional business to undertake my renovation work. At the end of the process, an on-site meeting/sign-off ensured both parties were happy with the final outcome. I could not recommend more highly Smith & Sons to anyone looking for a very professional and first-class unit to undertake any renovation works.
Thankyou. I will never forget the heart and soul you all put into my project.
