Having found myself single again and with the kids living their own lives, I explored my options to consider. I wanted to buy again, but the real estate situation at the time was putting me off, not to mention Body Corporate fees on top of rates. Then my daughter and son in law offered up the suggestion of building on their property. A free standing, self contained and open plan 'granny flat;, or 'nanna flat' as I like to call it.
In this way, the space has a variety of options. It could be a games room with space enough for a pool table or it could be student accommodation to rent or a teenager's retreat. Or... it could be my new home for the foreseeable future. It didn't take long for me to weigh up my options and make the decision. I'll admit I'd not heard of Smith & Sons before, however they came highly recommended and a work colleague had told me how pleased her mum was with a recent bathroom renovation they'd completed. And so began an exciting chapter to my life.
Damien and Anna of Smith & Sons, from the very start, were more than anything else, utterly professional and lovely to work with. Nothing was too much to ask and all of our offered suggestions were considered, be they viable or not. Estimate of construction was clear and concise, giving plenty of detail to progress payment stages, which was great for frequent referral. Another great thing was flexibility, or perhaps rather their quiet patience, with second choices and changed minds.
Damien also made some great suggestions along the way which we agreed to and with terrific results. Their guys, Mitch & Matt, always smiling pleasant and respectful. And hardworking! Even during the wet season they did what they could do, in the rain, the champions!
With my anticipation and excitement growing, every stage of completion was a celebration. Now that I'm here i'm so happy I don't want to leave! They really have done such a wonderful job. I've already recommended Smith & Sons to a friend, for their professionalism and workmanship. I'm thrilled with my new little home. My heartfelt thanks to Damien and Anna Hyde of Smith & Sons and their fabulous Team & Tradies for turning this dream into a reality.
